2. Who is eligible to apply for a Vietnam family visit visa?

According to regulations on Vietnam family visit visas for foreigners, specifically according to the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam No. 51/2019/QH14, Vietnam family visit visas are granted to the following subjects:
Foreigners who are fathers, mothers, wives, husbands, and children of Vietnamese citizens;
Foreigners who are wives, husbands, and children under 18 years old of foreigners are granted visas with the symbols LV1, LV2, LS, DT1, DT2, DT3, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LD1, LD2, in which:

  • LV1 – Type of Vietnam visa granted to foreigners working with agencies and departments under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; The National Assembly, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy, the State Audit, ministries, ministerial-level agencies, agencies under the Government; as well as provincial and municipal Party Committees, People's Councils, and People's Committees of centrally-run provinces and cities.
  • LV2 - Type of Vietnam visa issued to people working with socio-political organizations, social organizations, and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
  • LS - Type of Vietnam visa issued to foreign lawyers practicing in Vietnam;
  • DT1 - Type of Vietnam visa issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with a capital contribution of VND 100 billion or more or investing in investment-incentive industries, occupations, and investment-incentive areas decided by the Government;
  • DT2 – Type of Vietnam visa issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with capital contributions of VND 50 billion to under VND 100 billion or investing in industries and professions encouraged for investment and development as decided by the Government; DT3 – Type of Vietnam visa issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with capital contributions of VND 3 billion to under VND 50 billion; NN1 – Type of Vietnam visa issued to people who are Heads of representative offices, projects of international organizations, foreign non-governmental organizations in Vietnam; NN2 – Type of Vietnam visa issued to heads of representative offices, branches of foreign traders, representative offices of economic, cultural organizations, other foreign professional organizations in Vietnam; DH – Type of Vietnam visa issued to people coming to practice or study.
  • PV1 – Type of Vietnam visa issued to reporters and journalists residing in Vietnam.
  • LĐ1 – Type of Vietnam visa issued to foreigners working in Vietnam with confirmation that they are not required to have a work permit, unless otherwise stipulated in international treaties to which Vietnam is a member.;
  • LĐ2 – Type of Vietnam visa issued to foreigners working in Vietnam who are required to have a work permit.

3. How long is a Vietnam family visit visa valid for?

A TT family visit visa is issued to foreigners for a maximum period of up to 1 year. For a TT visa, foreigners can apply for a single or multiple entry visa, depending on their purpose of entry.
